Registration restrictions

For all domain-types such as .co.im com.im ltd.co.im plc.co.im , the registrant must be an organization. To complete the registration, the registrant has to provide a certificate of registration for the respective company to the registry.

Special .IM transfer procedure

  • Direct transfer from nic.im:
If a domain name has been registered by an individual rather than a reseller there is a special transfer procedure
    • Please contact our support team via email to [email protected] to process the transfer and import the domain in our system.
  • Transfer between .IM registrars/resellers:
    • The current Registrant amends the domain record by logging onto the www.nic.im website to “Unlock” from “Lock”
    • Transfers can be initiated with the API TransferDomain command. They can be requested with a so-called Authorization code. It could be that the authorization-code is not the same as the code you can obtain in your registrar´s web-interface. Therefore you should always contact your registrar before requesting the transfer and ask explicitly for the code. This procedure is really helpful to prevent confusion during the transfer process.
  • Outgoing transfers via nic.im webinterface

If the gaining registrar has requested a transfer within the registry's webinterface, we will have to approve this transfer manually. This transfer will not show up within your account. Please contact our support team and provide the authorizationcode as we have to make sure the transfer is authorized.
