Registering Your .ECO Domain: Activation Overview
.ECO domain names will remain on "server hold" status and cannot be used until you 1) complete a .ECO Profile and 2) pledge your support to positive change for the planet and to be honest when sharing environmental actions.
The .ECO Profile
A .ECO Profile is a free service provided by the .ECO Registry that allows you to publicly showcase your positive environmental actions at https://www.profiles.eco. Once your .ECO Profile is complete, your domain will be active.
Activation Flow
Upon successful registration of a .ECO domain, you will receive an email invitation to activate a .ECO Profile and take the pledge at the registry's website. Reminder emails will be sent 3, 7, 14, and 30 days after registration to remind those who have not activated their .ECO Profile and taken the pledge to do so.
Email subject: Activate [mydomain].eco
Once an account is created at the registry, registrants will receive a confirmation email that their .ECO user account has been successfully created. Reminder emails will be sent 3, 7, 14, and 30 days after creation if necessary to remind registrants to complete their .ECO Profile.
Email subject: Welcome to .eco!
When the registrant successfully completes their .ECO Profile, they will receive one final email informing them that their .ECO Profile is complete and that their domain is now active.
Email subject: [mydomain].eco is now active!
Note: All activation emails from the registry will be sent to the Registrant Contact from the address <[email protected]>.
X-ECO-ACCEPT-HIGHLY-REGULATED-TAC
All .ECO domain names will be first registered with “server hold” status pending the completion of the minimum requirements of the Eco Profile, namely, the .ECO registrant 1) affirming their compliance with the .ECO Eligibility Policy and 2) pledging to support positive change for the planet and to be honest when sharing information on their environmental actions. The registrant will be emailed with instructions on how to create an Eco Profile. Once these steps have been completed, the .ECO domain will be immediately activated by the registry.
More information on registration and eligibility policies may be found at the registry's website: https://www.home.eco/policies/
Authorization code
There are special requirements regarding the format of the authorization code. Please consider the following restrictions, if you want to assign a new authorization code to a .ECO domain:
- Minimum 8 characters
- having at least one (1) numeric,
- one (1) alphabetic, and
- one (1) special character
You may generate a valid random auth code by adding this parameter to the ModifyDomain command:
command = ModifyDomain domain = (DOMAIN)
REQUIRED
generaterandomauth = 1
