Domain Transfer
The transfer has to be initiated by the gaining registrar and can be requested with the API TransferDomain command.
A valid Authorization Code must be provided to initiate a transfer successfully. You may obtain the authorization code from the losing registrar.
As soon as a domain transfer has been initiated it can either be approved ("ACK") by Registrar or denied ("NACK") by Registrar. If the registry receives neither a denial ("NACK") nor an approval ("ACK") the transfer will be ACKed after 1 day.
command = TransferDomain domain = (DOMAIN)

Delete Domain
Domains can be deleted with the API DeleteDomain command.
There is a Deletion Restorable Period of 30 days and a following Deletion Hold Period of 5 days.
command = DeleteDomain domain = (DOMAIN)
Restore Domain
Restores can be processed in realtime. A restore is possible within 30 days upon deletion. Please use the command RestoreDomain.
command = RestoreDomain domain = (DOMAIN)
OPTIONAL
subuser = (TEXT) renewalmode = (NULL) | (TEXT)
Ownerchange
In order to change the owner you have to request a trade with the TradeDomain command. This can be done through our web interface or through our API:
command = TradeDomain domain = (DOMAIN)
REQUIRED
ownercontact0 = (CONTACT) admincontact0 = (CONTACT) # if the new registrant is an individual then the admin contact is required and has to match the new registrant contact X-IT-ACCEPT-LIABILITY-TAC = 1 X-IT-ACCEPT-REGISTRATION-TAC = 1 X-IT-ACCEPT-EXPLICIT-TAC = 1 X-IT-PIN = <fiscal code/VAT Number/id number>
OPTIONAL

Only individual and juridical persons residing in or belonging to a EU Member State can register domain names under the ccTLD "it".
Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Esthonia, Finland, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden. For customers of any other country, we offer a Trustee Service.

- The company's fiscal code (for Italian companies consisting of exactly 11 digits) or
- The company's VAT number
Italian Province data
The registry requires the 2 character province code for addresses within Italy. Wikipedia list of Italian Provinces
Domain registration confirmation
Since summer of 2013 and after the latest roll-out of the NIC.IT guidelines (http://www.nic.it/create-and-change.it/regulations-and-guidelines), the IT registry requires the registrar to send out a confirmation email to the registrant, in order to inform him about the domain registration. This obligation is part of the EU Ecommerce Guideline of 2000 resp. 2005 and as each IT registrar is obliged to send out these emails.
Please find below an e-Mail template for individuals as well as for organizations:
For individual
For organization
Trustee Service
Depending on the TLD, the Trustee Service will be added to the existing contacts, or replaces one or more of the WHOIS contacts. Once replaced the Trustee acts on behalf of the registrant and thereby makes a registration of that specific TLD possible. It can be activated using the following parameter:
X-IT-ACCEPT-TRUSTEE-TAC = 1 ''enable our trustee service''
In order to mitigate legal risk of our Trustee, we validate all .IT domain registration requests which utilize our .IT Trustee Service. Registration of .IT domains using our Trustee Service will stay in "requested" status until validated by the Trustee lawyer. Please note that Validation can take up to 24 hours during a business day and up to 72 hours over weekends. <be>
Nameserver Checks
Nameservers for a .IT domain have to be correctly configured before the registration request succeeds, otherwise registration will fail.
Please check that the following requirements are met:
The registry offers a validation tool to check the nameservers. https://dns-check.nic.it/
Transfer
There is a different transfer procedure depending on if the domain name is currently registered with a REGISTRAR (EPP system) or with a MAINTAINER (older registration system). To see if a domain is currently registered with a REGISTRAR or with a MAINTAINER simply have a look at the whois:
mnt-by: <REGISTRARNAME>-REG --> Domain is registered with a REGISTRAR mnt-by: <REGISTRARNAME>-MNT --> Domain is registered with a MAINTAINER
Transfers from a REGISTRAR
The transfer has to be initiated by the gaining registrar and can be requested with the API TransferDomain command.
A valid Authorization Code must be provided to initiate a transfer successfully. You may obtain the authorization code from the losing registrar.
As soon as a domain transfer has been initiated it can either be approved ("ACK") by Registrar or denied ("NACK") by Registrar. If the registry receives neither a denial ("NACK") nor an approval ("ACK") the transfer will be ACKed after 1 day.
Data management policy violation
The registry does contact validation at the time of transfer. If the contact handles at the current registrar has missing details, the requesting account will need to provide new contacts with the transfer order to satisfy the requirements.
Possible error message:
504 Data management policy violation; Request for domain references an uncompleted registrant. A mandatory field is empty or has a wrong value.
Transfer Notes
Ownerchange
Overview which registrant contact elements can only be changed through a TradeDomain command:
In order to assign a new registrant contact handle to a .IT domain sometimes an update (ModifyDomain command) is required and sometimes a trade (TradeDomain command):
registrant contact handle element(s) to be changed | required operation |
name (if org exists and remains unchanged) | update |
name (if org does not exist) | trade |
org (if org is identical to name and is being removed) | update |
org (to a non-blank value) | trade |
street | update |
zip | update |
city | update |
state | update |
country | trade |
phone | update |
fax | update |
update |
In the special case that the organization and the name of the current registrant are identical it is possible to remove the organization with an update operation (new contact handle with only a name that matches the old name and organization).
X-IT-PIN
If only the VAT ID (X-IT-PIN) should be changed this can be done through an update operation (ModifyDomain). If also the registrant name or registrant organization should be changed please check the above table for the required operation.
Renewal Process
Domains cannot be renewed explicitly. To renew a domain you have to set the domain renewal mode or default renewal mode to AUTORENEW. Within the AUTORENEW process the registration period will be extended by 1 year. Alternatively, requesting a renewal via the control panel should complete a PayDomainRenewal command and the Paid-until date will be increased by 1 year.
Addons
The following overview shows you all available Domain Addons which can be used for this special kind of TLD. It also shows the respective API parameters which are required to activate the Domain Addons:
Addon Class | Parameter to (de)activate *1) | Renewal term *2) | Affected Parameters *3) |

RegistrarOC
Restore Process
To restore a domain as a RegistrarOC customer, you simply have to execute the RestoreDomain command. HEXONET directly forwards the restore request to the registry, which performs the restore in real-time. As soon as the restore is complete, the domain will get assigned to your account with the original domain data.
