Registration Limitations and Requirements

The registrant and the administrative contact must be located in Norway (NO).

The registrant of a .NO domain must be an Norwegian organization with a valid organization number in the Brønnøysund Register Centre (Enhetsregisteret).
Additionally, the administrative contact must also be employed at or be directly affiliated to the registrant organization and must have a Norwegian address.

Alternatively, if the domain-owner is an individual based in Norway, a PID number must be provided. This number can be generated at: https://pid.norid.no/personid/lookup. Once received, you may use this number as X-NO-REGISTRANT-IDENTITY in order to proceed with your order. Please note that a Norwegian postal address is mandatory.

In order to register a .NO domain you have to

  1. Use the AddDomain command in our system, or the AddDomain function in our web interface to register a domain
  2. Visit our .NO registration form generator at http://www.domainform.net to generate a fax form
  3. Make sure that your nameservers are configured correctly http://dnscheck.norid.no/
  4. Follow the instructions on the generated fax form.
  5. Please note that the Registration can only be executed as soon as we have received the signed Registration form.

command = AddDomain
domain = <TEXT>
...
...
X-NO-REGISTRANT-IDENTITY = <TEXT> (max. 255 chars) - The organization number of the Norwegian organization (consisting of exactly 9 digits) or the PID Number in format N.PRI.12345678.

Nameserver Checks

PLEASE NOTE: The registry performs nameserver checks, therefore, domains are not activated until the domain's nameservers are successfully checked by the registry.

Please see: http://dnscheck.norid.no/

Transfer from Self-managed

If the domain listed as under the registry directly (direct registry management), a renewal must be made with the transfer request. You can determine if the domain is under the registry via the whois, as the results will state "Registrar Handle: REG0-NORID" or the registry whois interface will show "The domain has no registrar".

Renewal Process

Domains cannot be renewed explicitly. To renew a domain you have to set the domain renewal mode or default renewal mode to AUTORENEW. Within the AUTORENEW process the registration period will be extended by 1 year.

Deletion

The immediate deletion of a domain requires to send in a signed Cancellation Request form generated at http://www.domainform.net. Otherwise, the domain is deleted at the end of its term.

Ownerchange

All contact information with the exception of registrant Name, Firstname and Organisation can be updated through the ModifyDomain command. In order to change the registrant you have to request a trade with the TradeDomain command. This can be done through our web interface or through our API:

  1. Use the TradeDomain command in our system, or the TradeDomain function in our web interface to assign the new owner contact handle to the domain
  2. Visit our .NO ownerchange form generator at http://www.domainform.net to generate a fax form
  3. Follow the instructions on the generated fax form.
  4. Please note that the Ownerchange can only be executed as soon as we have received the signed Ownerchange form.

command = TradeDomain
domain = <DOMAIN>
ownercontact0 = <CONTACT>
x-no-registrant-identity = <ORGANIZATION NUMBER>

Addons

RegistrarOC

Change of Registrant (Trade)

If you are RegistrarOC customer, you have to activate pending domain trades after receiving the fax form with the ActivateDomainTrade command. As RegistrarOC customer, you have the possibility to customize our fax form with your logo and your fax number.

Restore Process

To restore a domain as a RegistrarOC customer, you simply have to execute the RestoreDomain command. HEXONET directly forwards the restore request to the registry, which performs the restore in real-time. As soon as the restore is complete, the domain will get assigned to your account with the original domain data.

Please do not initiate a restore directly at the registry (e.g. using the registrar webinterface). All restore operations must be performed through our system.

Pass-Through Behavior

It is also possible to configure your account in such a way that AddDomain and TradeDomain are directly sent to the registry. In this case, there is no need to use the commands ActivateDomainRegistration and ActivateDomainTrade.
